News from the Branch Mistress

Unto fair Dun Or and Caid doth Castillo del Lago send the following news:

The drums of war are beckoning us to leave our dear Dun Or far behind; indeed, leave fair Caid and journey to the battlefields of Atenveldt.  We brewers play an important role at Estrella War...and I'm not just talking about keeping your favorite warband loose with liberal libations!  This year's Estrella War Arts & Sciences competition includes the category of metheglins, herb-based beverages occasionally used medicinally in the middle ages.  [Hmm...wonder if we can locate a bottle of 1998 Lady Linda's Lusty Lavender Mead somewhere in the recesses of Castillo del Lago???]
So search through your cupboards and see what might help fair Caid take the A&S warpoint at Estrella War...bet you've got something!  But choose your entry carefully, for you may enter only ONE item per category (the other categories are armoured articulated gauntlets and a single page with illumination and calligraphy).  Entries must be submitted on Saturday between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. LOCAL TIME.  DO NOT BE LATE.  Entries must be picked up between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.; winners will be announced at Grand Court.
Your documentation (a MUST) needs to show the major flavoring ingredient(s) was/were considered herbal in nature during the time period of the recipe, based within our historical time frame of pre-1600 A.D.  You must also include a full list of ingredients, or your entry will be considered contaminated and disqualified.  Medicinal ingredients considered illegal, toxic, or available by prescription only (for instance, absinthe, foxglove, digitalis) will not be permitted.
Further information on the A&S competition is available on the Estrella War website.  I am available to assist you with your documentation and presentation; contact me via the farspeaker number published in the Tower Tails or at CdL@trueblood.net before the first of February.  I will endeavor to obtain from our Kingdom A&S officer
a copy of the actual judging form to be used, which should be available now.
I would like to establish a schedule for our branch meetings and demonstrations this year, so I need to hear from all branch members, brewers, and interested parties.
Contact me via the farspeaker number published in the Tower Tails or at CdL@trueblood.net before the first of February.
Interested in sampling all the good brews the judges enjoy?  Just $6 gets you membership in the Kingdom Brewer's Guild with rights to sample at any event at which we are judging!  Contact THL Donal O'Brien for more information.
Yours in service,
Lady Linda del Lago
