The Fray is an interkingdom fighting unit in the Society for Creative Anachronism dedicated to the perfection of the arts of war and revelry. We have members in the Kingdoms of Caid, Ansteorra, the West, Atenveldt, Outlands, Trimaris, Artemesia, the Middle, AEthelmearc, and the East.
The Fray is primarily a heavy-shieldwall unit of Saxon origin. Our warband focuses on holding formation against all attacks and on disrupting enemy formations. The Fray has its origins in Caid but has spread Known World-wide, and its members loyally serve the interests of the Crown of their Kingdoms.
The Fray uses large, heavy kite shields boldly
painted with a
white four-pointed star (mullet) over a white chevron on a black
background. Our shieldwall is formed by overlapping the edges of
adjacent shields for mutual support. The Fray is often
strategically placed at the very front of the battleline,
affording its members intense meat-grinding action.
The Fray has
won the Crossed
Swords
of Caid for exemplary performance on the
field of battle at Estrella War.
