Our Morgan Genealogy
This website is dedicated to my father,
S. A. Morgan
My
father and his
five brothers grew up having a
very "Tom Sawyer" life. Grandma had been widowed at the age of
30, when my father was still an infant. The stories of their
childhood in then-rural Southern California entertained my siblings and
I
throughout our own childhood. We've heard them so many times, we
can pass almost all the tests!
But my father knew
almost nothing of his
father's relatives. So when he
retired more than a decade ago, he
began researching our Morgan genealogy. He met, and captured as
many of
the stories of, the generations of his parents and grandparents as he
could, as so many of that generation are leaving us behind each
day.
Our own
children, living in this incredible age of technology, have no concept
of the settling and agrarian history of America and real-life struggles
that were entirely
commonplace for even my grandparents' generation. Hopefully that
life
will come alive for them through the stories recounted here.
